Hononga – Connection: Exhibition

Festival of Design Aotearoa

Framed through a Te Ao Māori lens, the exhibition introduced a series of designs across lighting, acoustics, and furniture, grounded in whakapapa and whanaungatanga.

Informed by whakairo and Māori geometries, these lighting pieces utilise computational design and advanced 3D printing to return reclaimed materials to use. The additive process is guided by the subtractive logic of carving—building form in layers while seeking the precision, rhythm, and removal inherent to whakairo.
